Reviews:
Harstad Tidende:
«Exciting and varied».
A product well worth listening to. There's every reason for its
originator to be proud.
Drammens Tidende/Buskerud Blad:
Going across the mountains to Bergen, we find singer-songwriter
Rune Hauge. After 15 years on the road he's shaping up to become a
well-travelled story-teller, much like the Americans we've been
digging for some time, like Willie Nelson, JJ Cale and Townes Van
Zandt. Taxi is an album about city night-life and the search for a
way home. This is an evocative journey, which rings true thanks to
Rune's powerful, blue voice. He makes you feel you're with him on
his travels. And without noticing, you lean further back in you
stress-less and your thoughts start drifting. We sure like this
singer!
Sunnmørsposten:
«Evocative»
Hamar Arbeiderblad:
Hauge wrote all the material for his new album, the lyrics as
well as the music, and the result is extremely listenable.
Valdres:
«Soothes your soul»
Rune Hauge's many years on the Bergen music scene resulted in
his 1995 debut album The One You Need, which earned him a great
deal of critical acclaim. He's now releasing his second album,
Taxi, with entirely his own music. He's joined by Kjersti Misje,
vocals, Stein Inge Brækhus, drums, and Atle Mjørlaug, bass (ex Hole
in the Wall, Flying Norwegians etc.). City nightlife is the
recurring theme for his songs, with lyrics that reflect on 15 years
on the road.
This is varied music based on the singer-songwriter tradition.
By adding horns on some of the tracks, he even achieves an exciting
touch of jazz. The songs are peaceful and entirely acoustic, and
the superb vocal harmonies clearly accentuate this impression. In
the razzmatazz of modern living, the listener will need to calm
down to catch all the beautiful details, and the brilliant guitar
playing is particularly worthwhile. Taxi is a consistent, coherent
album which deserves attention. This music really soothes your soul
and mind.
Fredrikstad Blad:
«A westerner with character».
Yep, I wouldn't mind a few more trips with Hauge as my musical
taxi driver.
